How we run remote project kickoffs
The first week of a new engagement sets the tone for everything that follows, so we treat kickoff as a structured process rather than a single call. Day one is a discovery session focused entirely on business goals and constraints — no solutioning, just understanding what success looks like for the client.
Day two and three are spent translating that discovery into a shared project brief: scope boundaries, a rough milestone plan, and a shared glossary of terms so both sides mean the same thing when they say things like "MVP" or "done".
By day four we have a working project board, a communication cadence agreed with the client (usually a short async written update plus a weekly call), and access set up for every tool the engagement will need.
The single biggest predictor of a smooth project we have found is not the technical stack — it is whether everyone agreed on what "done" means before development started.
